PACERS, HAWKS TRADE TWO

The Indiana Pacers acquired guard Stephen Jackson from the Atlanta Hawks for forward Al Harrington.

What does it give the Atlanta Hawks
Yet another talented, young and versatile forward. Atlanta is now loaded with potential young stars; oddly enough, at 24, Harrington is one of the oldest. Atlanta picked four hyper-athletic swingmen in the draft, and Harrington fits that description to a tee. He's big enough to play power forward and quick enough for the three position. Plus, he's two years younger than the outgoing Jackson. Another nice move by Atlanta.

What does it give the Indiana Pacers
A legitimate shooting guard with range. This move lets swingman Ron Artest move to small forward, where he can go about shutting down the league's most versatile players. Harrington and Artest simply aren't natural scorers, and Jackson certainly is. He's also a nice success story for a guy who was never drafted. Jackson badly wanted out of Atlanta. He got his wish.
