TORONTO TRADES FOR INGRAM!

The Toronto Raptors acquired forward Brandon Ingram from the New Orleans Pelicans for center/forward Kelly Olynyk, guard/forward Bruce Brown, a first-round draft pick and a second-round draft pick.

What does it give the Toronto Raptors
This is a rather surprising trade at the deadline, as the Raptors were not expected to be buyers. Ingram can be a special talent but injuries have derailed his 2024-25 campaign. Toronto is hoping to pair him with Scottie Barnes to form a lethal combination with two players who can do it all on the court.

What does it give the New Orleans Pelicans
The Pelicans are selling Ingram here, which is not nearly as surprising as his destination. Both Olynyk and Brown are serviceable veterans, but neither player will likely be part of this team's long-term plans. The two draft picks, specifically the first-rounder, will be the key to this trade for New Orleans.

Fantasy impact
Ingram is still injured, so his fantasy impact for the rest of 2024-25 may be minimal. Moving forward, he could become more of an impact player in Toronto than he was in New Orleans, but buyer beware on Ingram due to his lengthy injury history. As for Olynyk and Brown, pass on both players.
