BUTLER DEALT IN 4-TEAM BLOCKBUSTER!

In a four-team trade, the Golden State Warriors acquired forward Jimmy Butler from the Miami Heat; Miami acquired forwards Andrew Wiggins and Kyle Anderson and a protected first-round draft pick in 2025 from the Warriors; the Utah Jazz acquired guard Josh Richardson, a second-round draft pick in 2031 and cash considerations from the Heat, and a second-round draft pick in 2028 from the Detroit Pistons; and Detroit acquired guard Dennis Schroder, forward/guard Lindy Waters III and a second-round draft pick in 2031 from the Warriors.

What does it give the Golden State Warriors
This complicated trade needed several teams and moving parts in order to complete, but Butler finally got out of Miami! In Golden State, he will be tasked with getting the Warriors back to the promised land. Is the team's core too old? Maybe, but Butler should inject some energy and all-around stellar play to the rest of the squad. Is that enough? And did the Warriors give up too much for him? Only time will tell.

What does it give the Miami Heat
For the Heat, things got really messy with Butler this season but the team was at least able to move on with several good pieces in return. Wiggins should slide right into Butler's small forward spot and contribute in many similar ways for the Heat. Anderson will add more frontcourt depth, which was badly needed in Miami. Adding a first-rounder in '25 is also huge, even though it does come with some protection.

What does it give the Utah Jazz
For the Jazz, this trade is all about the future. They were able to land the oft-injured Richardson and a pair of second-rounders in this deal, which also included cash considerations. Utah also acquired KJ Martin from the Philadelphia 76ers in a related deal, so the Jazz are doing a lot to shake things up. Neither Richardson nor Martin are expected to play big roles with Utah this season.

What does it give the Detroit Pistons
Detroit was able to snag both Schroder and Waters III from Golden State as part of this massive trade, so they should improve in the second half of the 2024-25 campaign. Schroder can either start or come off the bench, while Waters III has some versatility in his game. The Pistons did not give up much in this deal, so kudos to them for adding a couple of pieces that could become important.

Fantasy impact
Butler, Wiggins and Schroder should continue to have similar fantasy value moving forward, so there does not need to be any adjustments for any of them. Waters III, Anderson, Richardson and anyone else indirectly linked to this trade are not recommendable fantasy options at this time.
