POWELL, COVINGTON TO THE CLIPPERS

The Los Angeles Clippers acquired forward/guard Norman Powell and forward Robert Covington from the Portland Trail Blazers for guard, Eric Bledsoe, forward Justise Winslow, guard Keon Johnson and a second-round draft pick in 2025.

What does it give the Los Angeles Clippers
With stars Kawhi Leonard and Paul George both injured, the Clippers had to make a move to stay in playoff contention in the Western Conference. Powell and Covington should help LA, although both will likely wind up on the bench if/when both Leonard and George return to action.

What does it give the Portland Trail Blazers
Did the Trail Blazers get enough back for two useful players? Bledsoe can back up both guard positions, while Winslow and Johnson may be able to carve out bigger roles for themselves in Portland. The second-rounder is only for the '25 draft, so perhaps the Blazers should have received more in return here.

Fantasy impact
For the short term, this deal looks like a win for the fantasy values of both Powell and Covington. It remains to be seen how they will be utilized whenever Leonard and/or George return from injury. None of the three new Blazers should be picked up straight away in most leagues, but keep an eye on the situation.
