KNICKS FINALLY GRAB CURRY

New York Knicks traded Mike Sweetney, Jermaine Jackson, Tim Thomas, a 2006 1st round draft pick, a 2007 1st round draft pick, a 2007 2nd round draft pick and a 2009 2nd round draft pick to the Chicago Bulls for Eddy Curry, Antonio Davis and a 2007 1st round draft pick.

What does it give the New York Knicks
One of the biggest risks in NBA history, and a back-up big man they may release. It seems for every two great moves Isiah Thomas makes, he then pulls off a baffling stinker and that's what this one looks like. Curry is certainly young, somewhat nimble, and massive but after that he has bust written all over him. Never mind the heart problem that sidelined him down the stretch last season or his refusal to take a DNA test for it; Even when healthy Curry is softer than a pillow full of marshmallows. He doesn't rebound or play defense much at all and has little range on his shot, making him essentially a garbage basket specialist. Davis is a better player than Curry but may not be kept around by the Knicks.

What does it give the Chicago Bulls
A steal in Sweetney, a mother lode of choice draft picks, and two solid back-ups. How much of a heist was this trade for Chicago? Put it this way: Sweetney alone is more promising than Curry. Sweetney has some Karl Malone qualities in that he's a handful down low who only takes smart shots, gets opposing behemoths in foul trouble, and hits his shots from the charity stripe. He's also a much better rebounder than Curry, having out-boarded him 5.4 to 5.3 in far fewer minutes per game. Thomas is a bit of a wash-out but still has talent and Jackson is a versatile player who's better than his playing time. The draft picks alone would have more upside than Curry, so this was a pilfer for the ages by Chicago GM John Paxson.
