ONUAKU ON TO THE MAVERICKS
The Dallas Mavericks acquired center/forward Chinanu Onuaku and cash considerations from the Houston Rockets for a second-round draft pick in 2020 and forward Maarty Leunen.
What does it give the Dallas Mavericks
This trade was largely a paper transaction for both teams involved. For the Mavericks, adding Onuaku is merely a temporary move. He will be waived so that the club can sign veteran guard Devin Harris (a former Dallas player).
What does it give the Houston Rockets
For Houston, dealing Onuaku clears a roster spot. It is expected that the Rockets will sign veteran forward Carmelo Anthony. The second rounder is a decent asset to acquire for Houston. Leunen plays overseas.
Fantasy impact
The only fantasy impact surrounding this deal involves Anthony, though he has yet to officially sign with Houston. Otherwise, none of the principles involved here have any fantasy value.
