GONZALEZ HEADS TO NATS

The Washington Nationals acquired infielder Alberto Gonalez from the New York Yankees for pitcher Jhonny Nunez.

What does it give the Washington Nationals
Washington gets a great glove man here, presumably to be used almost exclusively as a backup since Ryan Zimmerman isn't going anywhere and they just extended Christian Guzman. Gonzalez is a solid depth add and should be able to hang around the majors for awhile as a utility infielder.

What does it give the New York Yankees
Nunez has some solid upside, having posted good strikeout numbers in the Nationals' system (and with the Dodgers before that). His best shot to make the majors is likely as a middle reliever, and the Yankees should know more about him next season. He's likely headed on assignment to Double-A Trenton for now.
