EDMONDS TO CINCY

The Cincinnati Reds acquired outfielder Jim Edmonds from the Milwaukee Brewers for outfielder Chris Dickerson.

What does it give the Cincinnati Reds
Edmonds should play in center field against most right-handed pitchers down the stretch. He will help solidify a trouble spot for the Reds for much of 2010. Cincinnati had been using youngsters Drew Stubbs and Chris Heisey in center field for much of 2010, so they decided to add more veteran presence in Edmonds.

What does it give the Milwaukee Brewers
Dickerson was set to return to the Reds lineup soon. Instead, he'll probably wind up in a center-field platoon in Milwaukee. Right-handed batters Carlos Gomez and Lorenzo Cain are also in the mix. Dickerson isn't a great prospect, but he's a solid return for an aging outfielder (Edmonds).
