The Detroit Tigers acquired third baseman Wilson Betemit from the Kansas City Royals for pitcher Antonio Cruz and catcher Julio Rodriguez.
What does it give the Detroit Tigers
The Tigers were desperate to upgrade at third base, where Brandon Inge's glove simply wasn't good enough to overcome his lack of hitting skills. Betemit is a short-term solution, but he should provide a boost.
What does it give the Kansas City Royals
The Royals no longer had much use for Betemit, since the team is auditioning prospect Mike Moustakas (their third baseman of the future) at the hot corner these days. So, they netted two very young, raw prospects in return.
