TIGERS AND BRAVES EXCHANGE LEFTIES

The Atlanta Braves acquired pitcher Wil Ledezma from the Detroit Tigers for pitcher Macay McBride.

What does it give the Atlanta Braves
In a trade of two left-handed relievers, the Braves got the slightly older and more experienced one, as Ledezma (26) comes in two years McBride's senior. There isn't a whole lot of difference in what the two can offer, though Ledezma gives the added versatility of having started 33 games in his big-league career. He'll slip into a middle-relief role in Atlanta and is a candidate to make some spot-starts.

What does it give the Detroit Tigers
Like Ledezma, McBride has had some control issues this year but can be very effective against left-handed hitters. He's more in the lefty-specialist mode, coming on in the late innings to retire tough left-handed hitters. In fact, the Tigers' likely reason for this trade was that Ledezma was being hammered by those hitters this year, while McBride has mowed them down.
