McDONALD RETURNS TO TORONTO

The Toronto Blue Jays acquired infielder John McDonald from the Detroit Tigers for cash considerations.

What does it give the Toronto Blue Jays
This was an odd deal for both sides, considering cash had just recently been sent to Toronto to complete a July 22 trade that sent McDonald to Detroit. He now returns to their roster, but is eligible for arbitration, so may well wind up elsewhere for 2006. Nonetheless, he's a valuable utility infielder but little more.

What does it give the Detroit Tigers
The Tigers used McDonald sparingly for the short time they had him due to their glut of infielders. They now get their cash back and it's like the original trade never even happened.
