In Martinez, the Cardinals get a solid hitter who may eventually form a platoon in the outfield for them. For now, he will serve a depth role within the St. Louis organization and start out at Triple-A Memphis.
What does it give the Kansas City Royals
The Royals had designated Martinez for assignment recently, so they at least received some cash in return for his services. KC will move on with the likes of Jorge Bonifacio waiting in the wings at Triple-A Omaha.

Martinez should serve a depth role in St. Louis moving forward, so his fantasy value remains fairly low.
