BRAVES GET RELIEVER JOSE RAMIREZ
The Atlanta Braves acquired pitcher Jose Ramirez from the Seattle Mariners for a player to be named later.
What does it give the Atlanta Braves
In Ramirez, the Braves acquired a 25-year-old right-hander with untapped promise. He should compete for a roster spot in spring training after appearing in eight games in the big leagues in 2015 (5 with Seattle, 3 with the Yankees). He is an intriguing acquisition.
What does it give the Seattle Mariners
The Mariners decided to move Ramirez after acquiring the likes of right-handed relievers Joaquin Benoit and Justin De Fratus this off-season. They will receive a minimal return on their investment but have opened up a roster spot by trading Ramirez at this time.
Fantasy impact
Ramirez must overcome his control issues (10 BB in 7.2 IP in MLB in '15) in order to become a fantasy factor in 2016. He's a major long shot.
