BREW CREW LAND VERSATILE OF PARRA
The Milwaukee Brewers acquired outfielder Gerardo Parra from the Arizona Diamondbacks for outfielder Mitch Haniger and pitcher Anthony Banda.
What does it give the Milwaukee Brewers
Milwaukee lands the versatile Parra, who can play all three outfield positions and bats left-handed. He could end up in a platoon with {P Khris Davis} in left field, or serve as the team's fourth outfielder and back up Davis, {P Carlos Gomez} and {P Ryan Braun} down the stretch. He's a solid addition to a team chasing the pennant.
What does it give the Arizona Diamondbacks
The Diamondbacks traded away their starting right-fielder in Parra, but Haniger alone should make up for it down the road. The Brewers' No. 3 prospect heading into 2014 according to Baseball America, Haniger has a great arm for right field. Therefore, he might eventually take Parra's job in Arizona...though he's only in Double-A ball right now. He is likely to make his big-league debut at some point in 2015, and his prospects are brighter with the D'backs. As for Banda, the lefty is a solid starter prospect who has a long way to go (but pretty good upside).
Fantasy impact
Parra's fantasy value may plummet here if he becomes a backup in Milwaukee. Otherwise, Davis may be the one in trouble. Haniger's long-range upside improves greatly now that he's with Arizona, so he needs to be on the keeper-league radar now. Banda is still several years away from prominence.
