CLEVELAND, DODGERS DEAL MINOR LEAGUE HURLERS

The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired pitcher Colt Hynes from the Cleveland Indians for pitcher Duke von Schamann.

What does it give the Los Angeles Dodgers
Hynes is a journeyman lefty specialist who made it to the majors in 2013 (with the Padres) after years of toiling in the minors. He'll stay in the minors for now but has been placed on L.A.'s 40-man roster, so he could get the call sometime in the near future. He replaces outfielder {P Mike Baxter} on the Dodgers' 40-man roster after star {P Matt Kemp}'s recent activation. Hynes isn't overpowering but he has a funky delivery that may be useful in the Dodgers 'pen this summer.

What does it give the Cleveland Guardians
Cleveland took a chance on Hynes this off-season (acquiring him from San Diego for cash) and for them it obviously didn't work out, so they at least get a prospect starter back for that venture in von Schamann. That said, they don't have von Schamann on the 40-man roster and he hasn't been dominant in the minors, so the Indians will have to wait awhile to see if they indeed got much here in return.

Fantasy impact
Neither of these players projects to have a significant (if any) role for his new club anytime soon, so there's no fantasy impact on either side of the swap.
