A'S GET COREY BROWN FROM WASHINGTON
The Oakland Athletics acquired outfielder Corey Brown from the Washington Nationals for cash.
What does it give the Oakland Athletics
The Athletics are good at finding reclamation projects and players that fly completely under the radar. Brown may be one such type, though he doesn't figure to have a prominent role in Oakland even if he makes the team out of spring training in 2014.
What does it give the Washington Nationals
The Nationals had recently designated Brown, 28, for assignment. Therefore, they were able to recuperate some cash out of this move, so it's not bad business by Washington here. The Nats have plenty of outfield depth, so they didn't need Brown anymore.
Fantasy impact
At this point, consider Brown a fantasy dark horse. There's an outside chance he'll receive enough playing time in the bigs to be a factor, but he remains an extreme long shot.
