RED SOX ADD VETERAN RELIEVER BADENHOP
The Boston Red Sox acquired pitcher Burke Badenhop from the Milwaukee Brewers for pitcher Luis Ortega.
What does it give the Boston Red Sox
A consistent middle reliever, Badenhop should help the Red Sox in their quest in 2014 to repeat as World Series champions. He's a quality innings-eating right-hander who used to be a starter (so he has good stamina).
What does it give the Milwaukee Brewers
The Brewers land a talented left-hander with a lot of upside, though Ortega is still quite raw. Only 20, he should have plenty of time to develop. This deal may turn out to be a great coup for Milwaukee several years down the road.
Fantasy impact
Badenhop will see far fewer setup chances in Boston than he did while in Milwaukee, so his fantasy value is headed in the wrong direction. As for Ortega, he can now be put on the fantasy radar but is several seasons away from prominence.
