ROYALS ADD OUTFIELDER HERNANDEZ

The Kansas City Royals acquired outfielder Gorkys Hernandez from the Miami Marlins for infielder Alex McClure.

What does it give the Kansas City Royals
The Royals don't have a lot of outfield depth, especially after releasing {P Jeff Francoeur} recently. They haven't been able to replace former top prospect {P Wil Myers}, who was traded to Tampa Bay last off-season to acquire starters {P James Shields} and {P Wade Davis}. Hernandez is mainly a speedy defensive outfielder, though, so he isn't expected to become a starter in Kansas City (whenever he gets back to the big leagues).

What does it give the Miami Marlins
In McClure, the Marlins land a switch-hitting infielder capable of playing shortstop. An 11th-round draft pick by the Royals in 2010, he has reached Double-A ball but hasn't proven capable of hitting well enough to be considered a true big-league prospect. Perhaps the move to the Marlins organization will help, though {P Adeiny Hechavarria} appears to be entrenched as their current (and future) starting shortstop.

Fantasy impact
There won't be much fantasy value here, as neither Hernandez nor McClure should become everyday players in the big leagues.
