What does it give the Philadelphia Phillies
McDonald will provide infield depth for the Phillies, which is a good thing because all four Philadelphia infielders are old, injury-prone or both. McDonald isn't anything more than a stopgap, though.
What does it give the Cleveland Guardians
The Indians designated McDonald for assignment recently following the return to action of shortstop {P Asdrubal Cabrera}. With {P Mike Aviles} also around, McDonald was rather expendable.
Fantasy impact
McDonald doesn't own much fantasy value regardless of the team he plays for, so his impact will be minimal without much change from the situation he was in with the Indians.
