O'S ACQUIRE YAMAICO NAVARRO
The Baltimore Orioles acquired infielder/outfielder Yamaico Navarro from the Pittsburgh Pirates for pitcher Jhondaniel Medina.
What does it give the Baltimore Orioles
Navarro is a solid utility man, so he could be quite useful to Orioles manager Buck Showalter in 2013. With questions surrounding the health of veteran second baseman {P Brian Roberts}, Baltimore is currently stockpiling infielders as insurance policies.
What does it give the Pittsburgh Pirates
In Medina, the Pirates are taking a flyer on a raw arm with some upside. He hasn't reached 20 years of age yet, and has only seen limited duty in the United States (so far), so he is a long-range prospect. This is a good pickup for the Bucs in exchange for a backup.
Fantasy impact
Unless he wins the second-base job outright (unlikely), Navarro's fantasy value won't see much of a spike despite the move from Pittsburgh to Baltimore. Medina has very limited keeper-league value in only the deepest of leagues, but he is a prospect to follow.
