MARINERS ADD INFIELDER ANDINO

The Seattle Mariners acquired infielder Robert Andino from the Baltimore Orioles for outfielder Trayvon Robinson.

What does it give the Seattle Mariners
Andino spent most of 2012 as Baltimore's starting second baseman (replacing the injured {P Brian Roberts}), and he can also play shortstop and third base. He's an inconsistent hitter but a fine fielder. Look for him to battle for at-bats all over the infield in 2013.

What does it give the Baltimore Orioles
Robinson has a lot of athletic ability, but so far he has struggled with big-league pitching. Perhaps a move to a much friendlier hitters' park in Baltimore can help him. He may be in the mix in left field, but is more likely to emerge as the Orioles' fourth outfielder.

Fantasy impact
Andino's at-bats will drop from 2012 unless he can win the shortstop job over defensive whiz {P Brendan Ryan} in Seattle. His fantasy value won't improve hitting half the time at Safeco Field, however. As for Robinson, he has a slightly better opportunity in Baltimore, so his fantasy value should improve a tick.
