PHILLIPS TO CINCY

The Cincinnati Reds acquired infielder Brandon Phillips from the Cleveland Indians for a player to be named later.

What does it give the Cincinnati Reds
Not long ago, Phillips was a top infield prospect with both the Montreal Expos and Indians. Only 24, Phillips has a chance to become Cincinnati's 2B of the future in no time. All the tools are there; now, it's time for Phillips to run with this latest opportunity.

What does it give the Cleveland Guardians
There was no room at the inn for Phillips in Cleveland, after Ronnie Belliard established himself as a top AL second sacker last season. Therefore, the Indians are giving Phillips a chance to find a regular gig somewhere else. They also will be rewarded with a prospect down the road.
