JAYS ACQUIRE MCDONALD

The Toronto Blue Jays acquired infielder John McDonald from the Cleveland Indians for a player to be named later.

What does it give the Toronto Blue Jays
The Jays are very young in the infield and McDonald gives them some veteran depth up the middle and at third. He's the quintessential defense-first infielder, so he's no more than a backup and perhaps as little as a guy to provide depth in the minors, especially considering they re-signed veteran utility man Frank Menechino the same day.

What does it give the Cleveland Guardians
It remains to be seen what the Tribe gets for McDonald, but rest assured it won't be much, considering he had been designated for assignment eight days before the trade and they would have lost him completely if two more days went by.
