BLUE JAYS ADD CLOSER SANTOS
The Toronto Blue Jays acquired pitcher Sergio Santos from the Chicago White Sox for pitcher Nestor Molina.
What does it give the Toronto Blue Jays
The Blue Jays had a devil of a time picking out a closer from a long line of candidates in 2011, so Santos should be able to cement the position in the coming year. He has an excellent arm and plenty of upside, so he's a nice addition to the Toronto roster.
What does it give the Chicago White Sox
The Pale Hose are clearly in rebuilding mode this off-season, which is why they decided to unload their closer for Molina--a long-range pitching prospect. Lefty Matt Thornton is also apparently on the trading block, so young Addison Reed may ultimately emerge in 2012.
