LINDSTROM HEADS TO 'STROS

The Houston Astros acquired pitcher Matt Lindstrom from the Florida Marlins for infielder Luis Bryan, pitcher Robert Bono and a player to be named later.

What does it give the Houston Astros
In Lindstrom, the Astros have acquired a fireballing right-hander who instantly becomes the favorite to become the team's new closer, since Jose Valverde is a free agent and setup man LaTroy Hawkins has also departed. Lindstrom has been inconsistent in the big leagues, but he does have a lot of upside.

What does it give the Florida Marlins
The Marlins decided to deal Lindstrom, who wound up losing the closer's job to Leo Nunez over the course of the 2009 campaign. They landed a young arm in Bono and a long-range shortstop in Bryan, though neither player will see the big leagues for a while. The Fish were motivated to move Lindstrom now since he's arbitration eligible.
