CUBS BRING BACK KOYIE HILL

The Chicago Cubs acquired Koyie Hill from the Cincinnati Reds for cash.

What does it give the Chicago Cubs
With the Cubs' top three backstops currently sidelined ({P Geovany Soto}, {P Steve Clevenger}, and {P Welington Castillo}), bringing Hill back is a no-brainer. He knows the team's pitching staff very well (having played with the Cubs for parts of the past five seasons) and catches a very good game. Hill also has a little pop in his bat, so he can hold down the fort until Clevenger and Castillo return soon from minor injuries. With Soto expected out longer, Hill has a good chance to stick around with his old team awhile (especially since the only other healthy option is unproven {P Blake Lalli}).

What does it give the Cincinnati Reds
Hill wasn't doing much at all offensively playing in Cincinnati's farm system (and at Double-A no less) and with {P Ryan Hanigan} and {P Devin Mesoraco} on the big club, it seemed unlikely the 33-year-old Hill would be useful in 2012. Getting some cash for Hill here is a solid move for Cincy.
