NATS, BUCS SWAP FOUR
The Washington Nationals acquired outfielder Nyjer Morgan and pitcher Sean Burnett from the Pittsburgh Pirates for outfielder Lastings Milledge and pitcher Joel Hanrahan.
What does it give the Pittsburgh Pirates
The Bucs land the reliever with better stuff in Hanrahan, as well as the outfielder with more long-term potential in this deal. Milledge comes with baggage, however, so he will have to prove he can find the discipline when promoted back to the big leagues. For now, he will remain in the minors.
What does it give the Washington Nationals
Morgan probably will become Washington's everyday center-fielder and leadoff man, while Burnett will step into an important setup role. This trade fills holes for the Nationals, though giving up on Milledge so quickly may have been a mistake.
