D'BACKS, NATS SWAP PROSPECTS

The Arizona Diamondbacks acquired minor-league pitcher Emiliano Fruto from the Washington Nationals for minor-league first baseman Chris Carter.

What does it give the Arizona Diamondbacks
In past seasons it looked like Fruto had the potential to be a quality setup man or even closer in the majors, but this year the 23-year-old has been starting. Results haven't been great and he'll have to work on his command if he's going to make an impact in any capacity in the majors in the near future.

What does it give the Washington Nationals
For the Nats, this trade was made ostensibly so they could send Carter to the Red Sox to complete last week's Wily Mo Pena trade. Carter is the Jack Cust type: a quality left-handed slugger with good plate discipline but shoddy defensive skills.
