SORIANO FOR GRANILLO

The St. Louis Cardinals acquired pitcher George Soriano from the Washington Nationals for pitcher Andre Granillo.

What does it give the St. Louis Cardinals
In Soriano, the Cardinals add a multi-inning reliever with MLB experience. The right-hander has not been effective the last few years, but he does get strikeouts. He could fill a low-leverage role in the bullpen this season.

What does it give the Washington Nationals
The Nationals get the younger reliever here in Granillo. The 25-year-old right-hander made his MLB debut in 2025 after posting solid numbers as a middle reliever in the minors. He allowed too many baserunners in his first big-league call-up, but he still has more potential than Soriano, so this is a good move for Washington.

Fantasy impact
Neither pitcher traded here sees usage in high-leverage situations, so this trade will not have a fantasy impact. See if Granillo can adjust versus MLB hitters over time.
