STAIRS TO PHILLY

The Philadelphia Phillies acquired outfielder Matt Stairs from the Toronto Blue Jays for a player to be named later.

What does it give the Philadelphia Phillies
Stairs is a quality pinch-hitter who can also fill in at first base, left and right field. Therefore, he's a valuable addition to a Phillies team looking to reach the postseason. With Geoff Jenkins currently injured, look for Stairs to see ample time in right field.

What does it give the Toronto Blue Jays
The Jays did the right thing by moving the classy Stairs to a contender. At the same time, Toronto will give top hitting prospect Travis Snider an audition in September. Snider could be the team's DH of the future. The player to be named later will be icing on the cake in this deal if Snider pans out.
