The Cincinnati Reds acquired pitcher Scott Schoeneweis from the Toronto Blue Jays for a player to be named later or cash.
What does it give the Cincinnati Reds
The Reds continue to try to make an asset out of their biggest flaw of the first half: their bullpen. Typically a steady situational lefty, Schoeneweis has been erratic this year, but he'll be more of a depth guy in Cincy, since they already have four southpaws in the 'pen.
What does it give the Toronto Blue Jays
Struggling and in the last year of his contract, the Jays were going to let Schoeneweis go as a free agent in a couple of months anyway, so at least this way they get a little something for him.
