FAEDO FOR DELGADO
The Tampa Bay Rays acquired pitcher Alex Faedo from the Detroit Tigers for catcher Enderson Delgado.
What does it give the Tampa Bay Rays
Faedo will add to Tampa Bay's pitching depth for the 2025 season. The right-hander was a useful part of Detroit's pitching staff the past two years, working as both a starter and multi-inning reliever. Last season, he managed a solid 3.61 ERA in 57.1 IP, though his 1.34 WHIP could use improvement. Also, a shoulder injury ended his year early. The 29-year-old should have a chance to earn a job in the Rays bullpen this season.
What does it give the Detroit Tigers
The Tigers had designated Faedo for assignment following the addition of right-hander Tommy Kahnle. Given Faedo's decent 2024 season, they were still able to trade him for a prospect. Delgado, a catcher, was a 2022 signing by Detroit, and he made the jump to low Single-A ball last season. The 20-year-old will continue to develop in his new organization. This was a solid trade for all parties concerned.
Fantasy impact
Faedo did pick up eight holds for Detroit in 2024, but he appears unlikely to pitch high-leverage innings with Tampa Bay. That will keep him off the fantasy radar for now. As for Delgago, he is not an option (even for keeper leagues) for the foreseeable future.
