BALTIMORE BRINGS IN INFIELDER VAZQUEZ
The Baltimore Orioles acquired infielder Luis Vazquez from the Chicago Cubs for cash.
What does it give the Baltimore Orioles
Vazquez will add to Baltimore's infield depth. A Cubs' 2017 draft pick, Vazquez made his MLB debut last year and picked up one hit in 12 at-bats. He can play multiple positions and has hit for a bit of power in the minors, so he has the potential to be a useful bench player. Expect Vazquez to compete for a role during spring training, though he should begin the season at Triple-A Norfolk.
What does it give the Chicago Cubs
The Cubs developed Vazquez for a number of years, but it seemed like they did not view him as a major contributor to the big-league roster moving forward. They designated Vazquez for assignment shortly before this trade, and then managed to get some cash back from the Orioles (instead of losing him to another franchise via waivers).
Fantasy impact
This trade has no fantasy impact. Vazquez is not on the fantasy radar and is likely to spend much of the 2025 season in the minor leagues.
