PHILLIES BRING IN BANKS

The Philadelphia Phillies acquired pitcher Tanner Banks from the Chicago White Sox for infielder William Bergolla.

What does it give the Philadelphia Phillies
In Banks, the Phillies bring in another trustworthy relief pitcher. The versatile left-hander will be an option in middle or long relief, as he is capable of working more than one inning out of the bullpen. A former starting pitcher, Banks has settled in nicely over three seasons as a reliever. He brings to Philadelphia a 4.13 ERA in 48 innings this season.

What does it give the Chicago White Sox
Bergolla is just 19 years old and was an international signing of the Phillies in 2022. The 5'9" infielder is on the rise, performing well this season at high Single-A ball. It is early but Bergolla has shown good contact-hitting ability and speed in the minor leagues. He will continue developing with the White Sox, who need all the help they can get.

Fantasy impact
Banks saw some usage in high-leverage situations before this trade, but that is unlikely to continue now with the Phillies. Expect him to only fill a depth role in their bullpen, leaving him with very little fantasy value. As for Bergolla, he has long-range fantasy upside, so he might be worth a look in very deep keeper leagues.
