GALARRAGA TO DETROIT

The Detroit Tigers acquired pitcher Armando Galarraga from the Texas Rangers for outfielder Michael Hernandez.

What does it give the Detroit Tigers
Galarraga will add a little depth to the Tigers pitching staff. With Joel Zumaya out at the start of 2008, the Tigers may give Galarraga a shot at a bullpen job in spring training.

What does it give the Texas Rangers
The Rangers have overhauled their outfield and are now looking for long-range replacements. Hernandez may not have a high ceiling but he could be in the mix for a spot on the roster at some point in 2008.
