The Cincinnati Reds acquired pitcher Sam Moll and international bonus pool money from the Oakland Athletics for pitcher Joe Boyle.
What does it give the Cincinnati Reds
Moll had been one of the Athletics' better relievers this season. On a better team like the Reds, expect him to pitch in middle relief–mostly to get left-handed batters out. In a bullpen light on experienced arms, Moll is a nice addition on and off the field.
What does it give the Oakland Athletics
A fifth-round draft pick in 2020, Boyle has made 19 starts in Double-A ball this season. For an Athletics team in full rebuilding mode, adding a young arm is a tidy bit of business at this time. Is there more to come?
