PHILLIES LAND SETUP MAN

The Philadelphia Phillies acquired pitcher Felix Rodriguez from the San Francisco Giants for outfielder Ricky Ledee and minor-league pitcher Alfredo Simon.

What does it give the Philadelphia Phillies
With closer Billy Wagner on the disabled list for the second time this year, this is a big acquisition for the Phillies. Tim Worrell has taken over as closer, which is the job he held in San Francisco last year when he was set up by none other than Felix Rodriguez. If anyone knows how to be a setup man it's Rodriguez.

What does it give the San Francisco Giants
Ledee gives the Giants a good fourth or fifth outfielder. He's the kind of guy who can even start occasionally and be quite effective, but only in short stretches. He also gives them a much needed left-handed bat off the bench. But the key to this deal for the Giants is Simon, a big young righty who has looked pretty good at High-A Clearwater this year. He throws in the mid-90s with good command, but is still two or three years away from the majors.
