BETANCOURT TO KANSAS CITY
The Kansas City Royals acquired shortstop Yuniesky Betancourt from the Seattle Mariners for pitchers Danny Cortes and Derrick Saito.
What does it give the Kansas City Royals
The Royals have had all sorts of issues at the shortstop position this year, so they believe Cuban Betancourt will at least solidify the position defensively. His bat is a problem, however, since he lacks patience at the plate.
What does it give the Seattle Mariners
The Mariners did well in adding a couple of arms for their underachieving shortstop--who has spent time on the disabled list this season. The move also opens the door for Ronny Cedeno to take over as the shortstop on a regular basis.
