RAJAI DAVIS TO TORONTO
The Toronto Blue Jays acquired outfielder Rajai Davis from the Oakland Athletics for pitchers Trystan Magnuson and Daniel Farquhar.
What does it give the Toronto Blue Jays
The Blue Jays land their next leadoff man in Davis, who can steal a lot of bases and play a solid game in the outfield. He is expected to take over in right field, with slugger Jose Bautista moving to third base. This trade fills a major hole in the Jays lineup, so Davis is a nice pickup here.
What does it give the Oakland Athletics
The A's were set to trade away an outfielder, following the recent acquisition of David DeJesus from Kansas City. They decided to move the speedy Davis. In the process, Oakland receives a couple of pitchers with decent potential as reliever. Neither pitcher is expected to be ready for big-league duty in 2011.
