BRADLEY TO SAN DIEGO

The San Diego Padres acquired outfielder Milton Bradley and cash from the Oakland Athletics for pitcher Andrew Brown.

What does it give the San Diego Padres
The Padres continue to seek for more offense, so Bradley is the latest experiment. He'll likely share time in left field with fellow switch-hitter Jose Cruz Jr. In case it doesn't work out, the Padres ensured that Oakland pay a portion of Bradley's salary.

What does it give the Oakland Athletics
Brown is a pretty decent arm with strikeout ability. Therefore, he has a chance to see time in the Oakland bullpen later in the season. He's only 26, and still has plenty of upside. Bradley was no longer needed in a deep A's outfield that is getting healthy.
