TRAYCE THOMPSON TRADED
The Chicago White Sox acquired outfielder Trayce Thompson from the Oakland Athletics for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
What does it give the Chicago White Sox
The White Sox have decided to bring back Thompson, who was drafted in the second round by Chicago in 2009. The 27-year-old outfielder has become a journeyman of sorts, but perhaps a return to his original organization will benefit Thompson.
What does it give the Oakland Athletics
Oakland decided to designate Thompson for assignment recently, so they did well to receive some compensation in return. The Athletics are giving Mark Canha a look in center field, with Boog Powell injured and Dustin Fowler still in the minor leagues.
Fantasy impact
Thompson has deep dark-horse appeal but he needs to find a stable home before becoming a viable fantasy option. For now, keep an eye on him in case he starts seeing regular playing time in his return to the White Sox.
