ANGELS ADD AKEEL MORRIS FROM ATLANTA
The Los Angeles Angels acquired pitcher Akeel Morris from the Atlanta Braves for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
What does it give the Los Angeles Angels
The Angels are taking a chance here on a good arm with a few control issues in Morris, who is still only 25 years old. He is not huge but Morris generates a lot of velocity on his fastball. If he can keep the walks to a minimum, he could make his way to LA before the end of 2018.
What does it give the Atlanta Braves
The Braves had decided to designate Morris for assignment recently, so they did well to at least garner an asset in return (albeit a limited one). Morris spent one season in Atlanta's organization, including eight MLB appearances (7.1 IP, 6 hits, 1 ER, 4 BB, 9 K, 1.23 ERA). It was not enough.
Fantasy impact
Morris is the type of reliever who might work his way into fantasy consideration (mainly because of his strikeout ability). However, his control remains an issue, so do not pick him up until he becomes established in Anaheim's bullpen.
