Vieira, a 24-year-old Brazilian right-hander, appeared in his first MLB game with the Mariners in 2017 (while also spending time at both Double-A Arkansas and Triple-A Tacoma). He has a live arm, but also some bouts of complete wildness.
What does it give the Seattle Mariners
The Mariners accepted cash in return for Vieira, who clearly was not in the Mariners' 2018 plans. He was originally signed by Seattle in 2010 and took seven years before finally reaching the show. He is not expected to be missed much in Seattle.
Fantasy impact
Vieira will need to show more as a reliable, consistent reliever in order to gain fantasy value in most league formats. Take a wait-and-see approach with him.
