RAYS REEL IN BACKUP OF PETER BOURJOS

The Tampa Bay Rays acquired outfielder Peter Bourjos from the Chicago White Sox for cash.

What does it give the Tampa Bay Rays
The Rays were in the market for a right-handed bat who can back up at all three outfield positions. Enter Bourjos, a veteran journeyman who spent 2016 with the Phillies. He is a serviceable player who tends to get exposed when utilized too much in MLB.

What does it give the Chicago White Sox
The White Sox were expecting to keep Bourjos around until projected center-fielder Charlie Tilson (foot) returns to action. Instead, they decided to move Bourjos to Tampa Bay for minimal return. Leury Garcia and Jacob May will fill in for Tilson in the interim.

Fantasy impact
Bourjos has virtually no fantasy value to speak of, especially since he has never learned the intricacies of stealing bases (to take full advantage of his good speed). Pass. Garcia's value spikes up a bit after the Bourjos deal.
