Qualls adds more bullpen depth for the playoff-aspiring Rays, though he won't challenge current Tampa Bay closer Rafael Soriano at all. If he pitches well, he may land a role in the seventh inning, since Joaquin Benoit has currently locked down the eighth.

The D'backs will likely get a marginal prospect in return for Qualls, who imploded this season as Arizona's closer. With Qualls now out of the picture, the D'backs will give the ball more to Aaron Heilman and Juan Gutierrez with the game on the line.
