METS ACQUIRE EL DUQUE

The New York Mets acquired pitcher Orlando Hernandez from the Arizona Diamondbacks for pitcher Jorge Julio.

What does it give the New York Mets
This is a strong acquisition for the Mets, considering their injury-plagued rotation. They've had trouble filling the fifth spot in the rotation for some time now and Hernandez gives them a reliable veteran, though he is susceptible to injuries. Best of all for this club with legitimate postseason hopes is El Duque's tremendous record pitching in October.

What does it give the Arizona Diamondbacks
The Arizona bullpen has been solid this year, so this isn't a trade that immediately makes a whole lot of sense. On the other hand, you can never have too much of a good thing and Julio is a hard-throwing righty who can further strengthen the top of their bullpen. He's not always effective, but when he's on he's almost unhittable.
