BUCS ADD INFIELD PROSPECT CHRIS BOSTICK

The Pittsburgh Pirates acquired infielder Christopher Bostick from the Washington Nationals for catcher Taylor Gushue.

What does it give the Pittsburgh Pirates
In the 23-year-old Bostick, the Pirates land a decent prospect who profiles as a utility infielder (a role he might be able to fill at some point in 2017). Bostick has some power and some speed, so there is some intrigue for the Bucs here.

What does it give the Washington Nationals
The Nationals had recently designated Bostick for assignment, which was a bit of a surprise, but they at least received a catching prospect and some money in return. Gushue is young (22) and a switch-hitter, so he has some upside.

Fantasy impact
Neither Bostick nor Gushue is a solid fantasy option for 2017, and neither has great keeper-league value either. For both players, time will tell whether they will ever belong on the fantasy radar.
