FITZGERALD JOINS THE JAYS
The Toronto Blue Jays acquired infielder Tyler Fitzgerald from the San Francisco Giants for cash.
What does it give the Toronto Blue Jays
In Fitzgerald, the Blue Jays bring in a versatile depth hitter. After breaking out in 2024 with a .280 AVG, 15 HR and 17 SB in 96 games, he regressed last season and did not make the Opening Day roster in 2026. Fitzgerald will remain in the minors for now, but he could bring some power and speed to Toronto's infield if they face injuries this year.
What does it give the San Francisco Giants
The Giants have a crowded infield, and Fitzgerald was the odd man out this season. He was playing in the minors and then got designated for assignment. Fitzgerald briefly looked like a potential contributor, but San Fransisco settles for just cash in return for him here.
Fantasy impact
Fitzgerald is unlikely to be a relevant fantasy hitter again. He is trying to get back to the big leagues at this point, and if he gets there he will probably be a bench player at best. Pass.
