LEO JIMENEZ MOVED TO MIAMI

The Miami Marlins acquired infielder Leo Jimenez from the Toronto Blue Jays for infielder Dub Gleed and international bonus pool money.

What does it give the Miami Marlins
A few Marlins infielders are injured early this season, so they will take a look at Jimenez. Mainly a shortstop or second baseman, he is a strong defender, a contact-hitter and has good plate discipline. Jimenez should be a bench player for now, but if he impresses, the 25-year-old could still earn a longer-term role in Miami.

What does it give the Toronto Blue Jays
Jimenez was not a great fit on Toronto's current roster, so they designated him for assignment just before this trade. They did well getting back multiple assets: money for international free agents and a younger prospect in Gleed. A 2024 ninth-round pick, he worked his way up to a few games in Triple-A ball last season. Gleed does not hit for much power or steal many bases, but in the minors he has walked at an excellent rate and put the ball in play.

Fantasy impact
Jimenez does not appear to have much upside as a big-league hitter at this point, and Gleed is not on the fantasy radar at this time, so this trade will not have an impact.
